The Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, has expressed disappointment at the failure of contractors of the Terminal 3 port at Tema to construct the Tema hospital road.

The Minister is sad that the associated projects with the expansion works have not been developed and laments the effects on residents.

Speaking at an engagement with shareholders of Meridian Port Services (MPS), Mr. Ofori Asiamah stressed that “We cannot start full operations of this port without the hospital road being completed.”

“We have said it many times. We cannot put up this edifice without the associated infrastructure facility, especially the roads, to make the turnaround time easier and cheaper.”
“The old road from the port was built by GPHA. When we opened up the port, we saw that there was a need for us to build that road. If we started this port in 2015 without looking at the road, I think it is an indictment on all of us.”
MPS recently completed upgrade work at Tema community 3 beach road junction.

The project started in January 2019 and on June 28, 2019, the upgraded junction was partially opened to motorists, meeting the deadline for the commencement of operations at MPS Tema Port Terminal 3.

The CEO of MPS earlier in July noted that there were plans to build 8-Lane Expressway through the Tema Hospital Road to bolster the road network capacity in the Tema Metropolis.
