A Parliamentary aspirant of the opposition NDC in the Volta region is reported to paralyzed after filing her nomination form. Kafui Augusta Takyi was seeking to contest in the parliamentary primaries for the Afajato South constituency.

However, she was brought to the party’s Volta Regional office in a wheelchair during the time of vetting.

Reports suggest that weeks earlier, the aspirant was able to move about freely, but only became paralyzed after filing her nominations to contest in the primaries She reportedly became paralyzed from her waist upon filing her nomination and had to be carried on a wheelchair by her supporters to the vetting centre.

The incumbent Member of Parliament, Angela Oforiwa Alorwu-Tay has, however, asked the public to keep praying for Madam Takyi. The MP further wished her contender a speedy recovery, adding that she wants to contest a fit and healthy candidate. “The core thing is that our dear sister is not well, let us pray for her to get well and come to the field so I can give her her second defeat,” Madam Tay said, as quoted by Joy News. Meanwhile, Madam Takyi was ultimately disqualified after failing to meet the vetting requirements.

This leaves Madam Tay, the incumbent MP, as the only contender in that race after she successfully passed the vetting.
