FIFA approves statutes for ‘new’ GFA

FIFA has approved new statutes put together for the ‘new’ Ghana Football Association, ABC News can confirm.

According to a Member of the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee, the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has officially accepted the proposed new statutes for the Ghana Football Association.

The approval of the new statute by the world football governing, FIFA clears the path for the constitution of a new Ghana Football Association.

ABC News understands Normalisation Committee is expected to meet stakeholders and publish what’s in the new GFA statutes as well as open nominations for elections. There will be a five-day grace period before the Emergency Congress after which the new Ghana Football Association will take over the reigns of Ghana football.

According to reports, the Ghana Football Association Congress is scheduled for August 31, 2019.

The congress will, among others, examine and approve the new constitution for the Ghana Football Association.

The Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee is expected to wrap its activities up by September 30, 2019 as per its stipulated mandate by FIFA.
