Germany is set to grant Ghana an amount of €5 million (29,956,371.20 Ghanaian Cedis) to construct a plant to produce electricity from waste.
We understands that the unit would have a capacity of 400kW and construction is set to start on October 1, 2019.
The project would take four years and is therefore expected to be completed by September 1, 2023.

The federal minister of education and research of Germany, Anja Karliszek and the environment, science, technology and innovation minister for Ghana, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, signed the deal on behalf of their respective countries.
The prime objective behind the project is the transformation of waste into energy, with the use of hybrid solar photovoltaic, biogas and pyrolysis systems.
Karliszek noted that the project’s success would result in the building of 10 more of the plants.
However, those ones would be built on a larger scale and could produce between 1 MW and 5 MW.
Meanwhile, the story of Emmanuel Kaiser, the founder and chief executive officer of Kaiser Media, is not that of those born with silver spoons in the mouths.
