The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has issued another warning to hopefuls running for different offices on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 general elections, citing the party's "statutorily state."
President Muhammadu Buhari's reason for firing the chairman of the APC's Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) reveals, according to the PDP, that the CECPC is an illegitimate body with no lawful authority, jurisdiction, or legitimacy. The PDP said in a statement issued by Debo Ologunagba that President Buhary's decision "reaffirms that the APc is not a political party by our rules, but rather a special-purpose vehicle, or SPV, that has become legally non-operational."
With two national chairmen, many factions in the States, and a national secretariat recently taken over by security services, the APC is beset by chaos and intense quarrels among its various warlords. The CECPC lacks statutory jurisdiction under the law, and any state congress or national conference it holds to elect party leaders at any level is void and recognized by the law.
